The landscape is full of characteristic elements. The field of Salento is almost all cultivated, and arboreal vegetation is in most cases characterized by expenses of secular olive trees with tortuous trunks of big dimensions.
The territorial property is usually subdivided into little pieces of ground, separated by typical "dry walls". The stone has been always used also to make different dry buildings, used by farm workers to sleep or to put into their tools. These buildings (definied according to the different areas furnieddhri, pajare, ecc.) are more similar to sardinian "nuraghi" than "trulli" of Apulia.
