Climate of Salento
Salento is one of the Italian areas which have a wide number of sunny days during the year and dampness is not always precipitations as happens in the North of Apulia.
Stretching out in the sea, the peninsula of Salento has a climate more humid than the rest of Apulia, where, on the contrary, the presence of Appennino mountains reduces the presence of dampness caused by the winds coming from West. Dampness does not means considerable precipitations as regards the North of Apulia, but it causes a greater change of the perceived temperature: Summer seasons, especially in the southern areas, are particularly sultry, while Winter seasons, being very mild even during the most cold periods, are freezing especially with a presence of wind.
